A meetup of meetup organisers

Hello fellow meetup organisers,

Our names are Dave Redfern, Phil Wylie and Natasha Allsopp. We founded Staffs Web Meetup about 18 months ago. During that time we’ve met some great people, learned a lot and seen some terrific speakers. Organising a meetup is by no means a small feat so that got us thinking. How can we make our lives easier?

A few months ago we thought it might be a good idea for meetup organisers to get together every so often — a meetup of meetup organisers. Our plan is simple. To arrange a get together with a bunch of great people. Nothing fancy (organising one meetup is plenty), no talks or schedules, just a nice evening out.

The aim for the evening is to share ideas, problems, successes and contacts. Obviously a drink (or two) and some tasty grub wouldn’t go amiss either.

We think Birmingham is a good location. It’s central, good access to public transport and most importantly, lots of good places to eat! On that note, if you can recommend anywhere for food, let us know!

We haven’t set a date yet. At this stage we’re just gauging interest. We’re thinking of creating a questionnaire with a few days and dates, the most popular wins.

For now, we’ve created a little mailing list and we’ll be in touch soon. If all goes well, we can make this more regular — something to discuss on the evening.
