How does variation theory relate to assessment and grading?
We need to cover all critical aspects of each educational objective when teaching. We want to do formative assessment on the different aspects to see which aspects students have and haven't discerned (see Åke Ingerman's group's work on testing). This is both for the students and for the teacher.
For summative assessment, we want to assess all educational objectives. We want to assess if the student can discern the relevant aspects for all educational objectives.
