Unable to connect with VLC on ubuntu

I am using the ubuntu,

I have open a VLC window in background, when I select the VLC option, it shows "attempting to connect..." there, on the terminal it keeps showing,

network error: Connection refused,

Let me know if you need further information to get it fixed,

Sorry for the delay. I have received a few similar reports, but in all cases it turned out that something was configured wrong.

If VLC is configured correctly, you should be able to use the browser to connect to http://127.0.0.1:8080/requests/playlist.xml

I had a weird error with VLC api in the past, copy-pasting what I wrote on Milovana in case it helps:

Turned out that one of the VLC luac scripts was using pow(), which has been deprecated. This led to a cryptic error result when trying to fetch the status endpoint, but once I figured out the cause I could just download the non-compiled script for the correct VLC version, modify it and replace the luac file with my modified lua. Just thought I'd mention it in case someone else runs into the same issue.

Sorry it's very vague, but if you can get some VLC API endpoints but not the status endpoint then it could be this.
