I'm on a Linux Mint machine and whenever I close a tab using the middle mouse button, my previously selected text gets inserted in the next open tab.

This is OS specific native way of posting text? I doubt that I can do anything about that.

Well, closing a tab in e.g. Chrome doesn't insert text into the next open tab...
