Adding local MCP server to MCP gateway

I am in need to add other MCP servers to the MCP gateway in addition to the once offered through the catalog. I am able to add a remote MCP server by adding it to a custom catalog but unable to follow the same steps to add a local MCP server that I can deploy through a docker image. Is this currently not possible with MCP gateway? I tried adding the local MCP server as a service under docker-compose and as an entry in the custom catalog file but both didnt produce the required outcome.

Did you ever get an answer, @dial647s ? I can confirm that this is doable -- I've got maybe three services not from the catalog running alongside a few catalog services -- but the documentation is quite confusing. I got it done after lengthy chat sessions with Gordon and Gemini. I am working on distilling the process down to a concise document for my own reference but it may be a few days. I'm happy to share the final result.
