How to use DocFX with source generators?

I am including source generators in an existing project and just discovered that DocFX does not seem to play well with source generators out of the box. Is there a way to have DocFX generate or pick up the source generator output?

I noticed in other issues there might be a way to configure msbuild parameters used by DocFX, but I couldn't find a lot of detail on whether this would work with source generators and what parameters you would need to run with.
