Visibilty of derived classes from other project

I want to generate documentation for a software consisting of more than 20 projects.

In order to make it somewhat easier to browse the different projects separately, I put each project in a separate src object of the metadata.

But with this approach I have a problem, which I don't have, when putting all projects in the same src:

I have a project A which defines base classes for project B. The derivedClasses list does not show the derived classes of project B, whereas when I put both projects in the same src-entry of docfx.json, it does. Is it possible to direct the output of different projects to different folders, while still having derived classes from other projects in the derivedClasses list of the base class?
