I updated definition files. Please rebuild your images. I added PackageKit-gtk3-module that required for arras_render and added following lines to environment section of definition files. With this image, you don't need to execute following command to set appropriate environment variables to run MoonRay stack. |

Multi-node rendering is done through our arras platform: https://docs.openmoonray.org/user-reference/tools/arras_render/ We can access arras through our Hydra delegate, which means we can use multi-node rendering in DCCs like Houdini. Don't be afraid to ask questions! |

It seems my attempts to build moonray in Docker, WSL environments (Ubuntu and Rocky) doesn't succeed no matter how I try. Following this guide, when it's time to build Moonray(base and dependecies sif files compile correctly) I get error about Boost being missing (in Ubuntu and Rocky it is the same error): If someone could help me out, I would appreciate your assistance. Also, first time writing a review, if I missed something important, ask me whatever, I will answer quickly |

First time I had to run your moonray_test.sif file with a command Talking about GPU, in Moonray (Apptainer or after above command) I try to run with XPU, but it is the same error as I mentioned before. But I also found out that trying to write Let's see on Monday this problem. Don't want to disturb you anymore 😅 |

For WSL2 environment, CUDA driver installation procedure has special note. And I believe you probably follow this instructions. https://docs.nvidia.com/cuda/wsl-user-guide/index.html#cuda-support-for-wsl-2 base SIF, I installed cuda runtime package 11.8, that includes cuda driver, this is probably the reason you met above GPU issue. It looks like we shouldn't install driver to VM (and also to container) on WSL2 environment (to prevent overwriting libcuda.so from Windows). For now, just quickly share my thoughts, no testing yet. I actually don't have handy Windows environment.. hmm |

Maybe the following change is related, I wii test and update here again. (<-- It looks like not the cause of the error 1) the rest of the lines are my note.. Warning 1 <-- This warning appears on successful build of moonray v1.0.0.0 on Rocky Linux 9.1 as well It looks like no significant change have been made but Error 1 It used to like this (copied from V1.0.0.0 on Rocky 9.1 build log) not sure this change is related. but record for future reference (it seems this change is related to error 1) |

@blue0berry My working theory right now is v1.1.0.0 couldn't find In parallel, about VFX standard @DJtheRedstoner also discussed here (#90), I believe this project is currently following CY2022 standard and tested on CY2022. Rocky Linux 9 environment is kind of beyond CY2024, for example, glibc on Rocky 9 series is 2.34. On Rocky Linux 8 environment, glibc is 2.28 and that matches to CY2023 and CY2024 draft (glibc 2.28). If this project will move to CY2023 in near future, maybe Rocky Linux 8 container is more valuable for the community?? in terms of interoperability with other projects. |
