Hi there, I am considering porting Dreckly to OpenSolaris (specifically release 2009.06, kernel build snv_111b) and I was wondering:
What is the acceptable amount of patches for a piece of software to ensure it builds?
I ported GCC 9.5.0 to OSol in my free time, among about 20 other packages of GNU software, git, autotools, OpenSSL and cURL, etc. Some of these (particularly GCC with C,C++.Fortran support) required about 7 patches (each patch for one file) and several sed replace commands in my build recipe I wrote to automate it.
My question is: Would this be acceptable to incorporate in a PR for adding OpenSolaris support to multiple packages? Or should I not?
I ask ahead of time prior to any work on this as I would like to avoid wasted effort.
Also, if you would like to see the work I've done so far on my own outside of Dreckly, check my page on OpenSolaris stuff and my list of packages I've ported.
