What are the tradeoffs of each solution in different scenarios? Are there normalized metrics we could define to reveal these tradeoffs? For instance, these could relate:

  • the redundancy factor -- how much data we store compared to the size of the original file
  • the estimated time to download a file based on a model of peer availability and throughput
  • the reliability, in terms of proportion of time that the file is retrievable

It would be great to have charts 📊 📈 .
