Constant Speed Mode - period_us in mm/s

Hi,

I'm interested in experimenting with the constant speed mode on a CNC machine, specifically for printing on various materials. However, I'm having trouble understanding how the period_us parameter influences the machine's speed in mm/s.

Additionally, could you clarify if there's a variable delay when simulating a button press through the API before the start of printing, especially when executing multiple lines? I'm aiming to achieve precise alignment in multi-line mode and need to know whether the delay is always fixed or if it can vary. The demo video from YouTube has some small misalignments between each row.

The value of period_us:
In 600 dpi mode, 25.4 mm corresponds to 600 prints, and period_us is the delay between two consecutive prints, unit: microseconds (us).
For example, if period_us is set to 1000 us, 600 prints will take 600 ms. Ensure that your machine's movement speed is 25.4 mm/600 ms, which equals 42.333 mm/s.
In practice, you can fine-tune period_us based on the printing results.

When controlling the printer via a USB network, control latency can be relatively high. To reduce misalignment caused by the delay, it is recommended to lower your machine's movement speed and acceleration, or to directly wire out the printer's button signal for direct control (since it is a non-real-time Linux system, the improvements may also be quite limited).
The next-generation MBrush will adopt an MCU solution and reserve an RS485 interface on the Type-C port, enabling faster transmission and improved real-time performance via RS485 (CDBUS.org).

Also, the idea of an RS485 interface sounds fantastic. Do you have an estimated release date for it?

Here, one "print" refers to all nozzles spraying data once, which can be considered as printing a single line. In the end, many lines combine to form a surface, which is the final visible pattern.

The next generation of MBrush is tentatively expected to be completed in Q2 of 2025.
