Reduce Menubar icon width to save some space

Cannot find how to get this to works: 'Reduce Menubar icon width to save some space.'
However, the release notes of v.1.9 suggest this is possible.

I previously used v.1.8 from the MAS. Uninstalled this with AppCleaner, restarted and installed v.1.9 (13) with the dmg.
