  • Unknown Orthography: Replace those characters with ⟨?⟩.
  • Delete the POT:4 orthography from the spreadsheet. This will create a gap in the numbering, which is fine and actually preferable I think.
  • POT:5: Change the ⟨O⟩ → ⟨O⟩ rule to ⟨O⟩ → ⟨o⟩.
  • POT:3–5: Change the ⟨w, O⟩ → ⟨oo⟩ rule to ⟨w⟩ → ⟨oo⟩.
  • If transliteration rules need context, just provide the context in that cell of the spreadsheet as a regular expression. For example, ⟨CwC⟩ → ⟨O⟩ for Hockett would be something like ⟨[bcdf…]w[bcdf…]⟩ → ⟨O⟩.
  • ⟨w, #⟩ → ⟨w⟩ and ⟨j, #⟩ → ⟨j⟩ should actually be ⟨#w⟩ → w and ⟨#j⟩ → ⟨j⟩.

  • removed duplicate a/ε from aa (per my notes) from POT:3

  • added "between consonants" regex to POT:3 w (qua weak vowel)
  • changed POT:5 ⟨O⟩ → ⟨O⟩
  • fixed POT:5 a/e (the symbol actually used is ᵃ/ₑ !!)

Trying to check the data against the sheets, and this issue against my notes, ended up wrestling with the w situations.

Here's what I settled on:

  • POT:3–5: Change the ⟨w, O⟩ → ⟨oo⟩ rule to ⟨w⟩ → ⟨oo⟩.
  • I can't find that rule -- and theoretically w shouldn't map to strong o in Hocket's orthography.
    • Currently, target of oo is o in POT:3 & POT:5, which seems correct.
  • added regex to attempt to clarify that POT:3 and POT:5 w should only map to project orthography o between consonants
  • mapping: POT:3 and POT:5 #w, w map to project orthography w
