Would be a nice feature to count downloads of each packages. This can be an good info and be shown by the packagemanager. Also statistics wouldn't be too bad - if certain things are not really requested we can drop them or in contrast invest into most-used packages.

Inspired by eXist-db#18:
- log each time a package is downloaded
- log when a package is published
- only info logged is the package URI, version number, and date stamp - no personal info is collected about requester
- to put these statistics to basic use, the admin page now contains 2 basic reports: (1) top 5 downloads, (2) date each package was uploaded, along with eXist version requirements
@JoernT With #53 we have logging in place and rudimentary display of it. Perhaps we could work on what numbers you'd like to be able to display in packagemanager and how best to expose that info via the data retrieved from public-repo?
