I ported/modified this library from another library that was itself taken from an earlier version. I've neither added nor subtracted support for different formats. That answers your "why" question. As for support of Ogg OPUS, at the moment I don't have time to even investigate supporting that particular format. However, I'm open to pull requests to add formats, so if you'd like to tackle it I'd be happy to review and add.
