Describe the bug
Line numbers in the Eclipse Java IDE often glitch on GNU/Linux systems using Wayland.
To Reproduce
Open the Eclipse Java IDE in a Wayland session on a GNU/Linux system
Open a Java source file
Start typing and scrolling up and down. At some point the line numbers will display repeated/incomplete characters, or plain wrong numbers
Expected behavior
Line numbers should always look fine.

Select the platform(s) on which the behavior is seen:
Windows
Linux
macOS
Additional OS info (e.g. OS version, Linux Desktop, etc)
OpenSUSE Tumbleweed, KDE Plasma Wayland session. According to the older related bug reports linked below, the issue can be observed on any GNU/Linux distro (in a Wayland session).
