Help getting started - completed installation but no change

I am guessing there is something I have either missed or has gone unsaid in the instructions.

I have completed all of the https://elchininet.github.io/custom-sidebar/installation and added a config file with a simple option, and nothing has happened. It is almost certainly user error here, but I have read and reread the instructions and got nowhere. Does anyone remember from their installation what they did that I may have missed? (Yes I restarted home assistant and checked in in-private browsing)

Did you already followed the Customisations are not applied in the Troubleshooting section?

Ah ha yes first assumption I believed it to mean the home assistant developer tools based on the wording. Could do with a small update there for clarity in my humble opinion.

"First of all, open Home Assistant in your browser and check in the browser's developer console (normally F12, console in the top menu bar)"

Think you might be onto something with the test though as I am seeing multiple failures in there. Guessing I've missed something crucial. 🤦

I already submit a change there 🙂

Most probably the issue is with the path that you place in extra_module_url. Did you put the same path given in the installation instructions?

Ah so instructions said
" - /hacsfiles/custom-sidebar/custom-sidebar-yaml.js"
I went looking for that in my files and could not see it but did find"
" - /config/www/community/custom-sidebar/custom-sidebar-yaml.js"

So I "corrected" that but I see what you getting at there 🤦😂 I am changing that now

🤦So this is a case of a little knowledge is dangerous, normally I'm on the other end of this. 😂

"Do not get creative with the path of the plugin, use the provided one. If you have HACS installed the hacsfiles custom path will be there even if you cannot see it in your filesystem."

Thanks sir, if you see something to improve or that is not clear in the documentation just let me know. (I noticed a small mistake in your error messages, already correcting that)
