Steps to reproduce

  1. Open Element X app
  2. Toggle Color Correction in the Android swipe-down settings. I use the black-and-white mode.
  3. Attempt to switch back to Element X app, Android reports that the app isn't responding and has to be closed.
  4. Reopening the app then works as normal.

Outcome

What did you expect?

App should be able to switch between color correction modes while opened.

What happened instead?

Operating system version

GrapheneOS. Android 15

Application version and app store

I can't reproduce it, but maybe I'm doing something wrong:

color-correction.mp4

Interestingly, the adb screen recorder doesn't record the applied color correction filter 😅 .

Could you maybe upload some logs when you reproduce this error?

@jmartinesp I used Show Details after the crash and have attached the log file provided by Android

Error in Element X 0bf8df9952b0.txt

I then reopened the app and did Report a Problem with Allow Logs on. I put the link to this Github issue as the description.

And I just found a GrapheneOS-specific setting that seems to be related. If I enable "Exploit protection compatibility mode" on the App Info settings in GrapheneOS the crash no longer occurs.

alt text

Exploit protection is on for every installed app on GrapheneOS by default and this issue does not occur with other apps that have this setting toggled off so I would still consider this an Element X bug. That being said I trust Element X so I will just leave exploit protection compatibility mode on to workaround this problem in the meantime.
