Option to clear GPS or other EXIF data when uploading pictures to media store

There should be a config option to clear various EXIF data from uploads to the media store, maybe through an arbitrary exiftool command. Clearing at least GPS data should really be the default too, as users are used to that behavior from other chat platforms.

I've tried setting this up myself via an inotifywait command but the amount of sub-directories makes this near impossible but if there is a proper workaround I would love to hear it.

This should be a feature of one's client, rather than that of the homeserver. The majority of media uploaded is encrypted (sent in encrypted rooms), and then decrypted on the remote client.

By design, the homeserver isn't able to view encrypted media, nor strip EXIF data from it.

I'm going to close this as I don't think we'll implement this feature. But I do encourage you to suggest this feature to the client you use (as I agree with the privacy benefits, and love that other messengers, such as Signal, do this by default!).
