Export to own hosted mimir instead of grafana cloud

Problem

In my company we are running grafana mimir distributed via the mimir helm chart for prometheus metrics.

Initially I figured being a grafana product, that shipping to mimir would be identical to grafana cloud, but it's not the same. @eandre and I tried to get it up and running, but it seems the paths are not standard between the two setups for push and query.

Grafana cloud is not an option for me due to our data retention and size, the cost is too prohibitive, using mimir + object storage is the most cost effective solution.

Suggestion

Make it possible to ship to, and query a mimir setup.

As the differences in shipping to grafana cloud and mimir should not be that different (I guess endpoint configuration only), it would be nice to be able to select that metrics destination flavour as grafana cloud, or mimir (potentially others) that can adapt the requirements for endpoint configuration for the selected flavour.

For the time being I was able to solve this using the mimir-distributed helm chart by updating the gateway nginx config at gateway.nginx.config.file
