Investigate use of "theming" variable set

It is currently unsure how the "theming" variable set is implemented, therefore this ticket is to investigate and document the usage in the application.

Next steps will be determined from this investigation

Not sure I understand this one from the description, does this relate to something in the UI, it's present in the Vue components? @jonrandahl
