If not too much hassle, could the latest version 7 perhaps be packaged for conda like version 6 already is? It will simplify installation for many users and dependencies are starting to fall behind because operating systems come with newer versions. For example the last Ubuntu version that supports ARB natively without using packaging tools or module systems is ubuntu20, now with only 1 year left until end-of-life.
If needed I'd like to contribute and have a go at it, but that would probably take me a lot more time.
Thank you very much in advance! https://biocontainers.pro/tools/arb-bio https://bioconda.github.io/recipes/arb-bio/README.html

@KasperSkytte This repo is really just an ancient mirror. Could you file an issue at bioconda-recipes and ping me from there. I just randomly noticed it here. Building ARB can be a beast. I'm not sure whether I'll find the time soon enough. I do feel with you though, it would be great to have a current conda package.
