What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. C:\Python27\python.exe setup.py build (or install)
2.
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
successfully installed editdist.  Saw the following instead

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
py-editdist-0.3, Windows 7 Enterprise

Please provide any additional information below.

running build
running build_ext
building 'editdist' extension
error: Unable to find vcvarsall.bat

You need visual studio to build C extensions.
