Using SPI not UART

Beautiful project.
Have you tried to do it with SPI interface?
The E-ink 4.2 SPI cost is half the price.
Probably much more people would be able to buy it.

Thank you for the interest. At the time this was the only E-ink display that I can get hands on. Can you give a link to the display you are talking about?
