HOMEWORK : Makes sure that you read the field help on the indicators tab and refresh your memories on the previous ecatalogue Working Group meeting minutes

Define terms and sort into "buckets"

Homework: Fill in the Working Spreadsheet

Purpose – to parse fields that currently hold different kinds of data

This will allow for clearer reports, counts, indicator-logic, etc

Differences between / Definitions of the ‘Yes/No’ buckets:
Collection Name - Does the value in column “C” corresponding to a collection name?
Prep - Does it consistently correspond to a single ‘prep’ type?
Part – Does it “ “ to a single part-type?
i.e. is it consistently a skin, or other part of a single individual/thing?
Location

Terms in col A,B,C are current values from EMu
If something is “created” (vs collected) – it is [likely] an object with parts or creation/prep details

If something is “both”, what to do? (e.g. for collection mgmt purposes…?)
E.g. “Skin”
→ Prep = Dry
→ Part = Skin
→ Loc = [dry / skin collection…]
→ Collection Name = [NA]

Added 2nd bucket to allow a value to be classified as an “either/or”, for items where the value is telling what it is and where it is.
Trying to get away from “Well everyone knows what I mean by…”

  DECISION:
  v9 : Add “Number of Individuals” field
  Distinct from MNI since DwC “numberOfIndividuals” = number of individuals
  V5 : Update Preps/Parts table – for rows with Count > 0 (& no other info in row),
  Add: value into Part/Rep Org (PheReproductiveOrgan_tab) = “Number of Individuals”

Homework:
Anthro to find representative records so that the mapping can be done in test to show how things will get migrated.

NOTES:

Rule 1: The reason for doing this is NOT because “it’s how we’ve always done it”
Rule 2: In this context EMu is primarily for managing collections not research
Rule 3: Edge cases will have to wait.

Prep Type is a two Level lookup list with Level 1 being the department.

Homework for the next 6 months on Indicators fields

• How are the used
• Are they still useful
• What are the preferences for Specimen/Primary tabs?
• logic for Darwin Core preparations term

Review decisions from the Tissue/Genetics working group

• What changes can we implement now?
• Final decisions on structural changes.

Other questions uncovered in notes fields

• MNI for nonAnthro collections
• • Do we have a source/standard?
• SEM, Slides, "other prep types" workflows going forward
• Lifestage/sex data? Updates from Collections on finding/cleaning and moving that data.
