How to set prometheus metrics for lotus

I run a lotus mainnet fullnode and want to run prometheus on another host. How to config it ?

hello tony, you can done this in 5 easy steps

1. first of all Install Prometheus, you can download it in official website.
2. now you need to config it with prometheus.yml the default location for this file depends on your operating system but its typically in Prometheus installation directory.

example of config file:

scrape_configs:
  - job_name: 'lotus'
    static_configs:
      - targets: ['<YOUR_LOTUS_NODE_IP>:<YOUR_LOTUS_NODE_EXPORTER_PORT>']

4. then you should save and restart Prometheus.
5. the last step is going to Prometheus web ui and you can use it now.

I wonder whether I should add some config options in lotus config.toml, for example, YOUR_LOTUS_NODE_EXPORTER_PORT.
If so, how can I config it? If not, what the default value is?

The YOUR_LOTUS_NODE_EXPORTER_PORT configuration option you mentioned is not a built-in configuration option in the Lotus software. Therefore, you don't need to add or configure it in the config.toml file of your Lotus node.
By default, the Lotus node's Prometheus exporter listens on port 1234.

So I understand that all external APIs of the node are listening on one port, including Json RPC and Prometheus?

Prometheus use this to monitor your node information!
