Meeting minutes - 22/08/2023 - DRAFT

  • Brittany introduced the SIG purpose and focus
  • Chamindra went through the InnerSource License Generator
    • Robert asked what sanctions would be applicable in the context of a license violation
    • Robert asked how you'd define the legal entities that licenses would apply to in the context of a multi-entity large corporate
  • Chamindra pointed out that, within the organization, license enforcement can be enforced via policy, whereas without said enforcement can only be driven via legal routes.
  • Robert further raised whether there would be a set of standard "sanctions" that could apply for breaches within an organization.
  • Chamindra stated that defining those "sanctions" would be something that would be up to individual organizations, no "standard" set exists.
  • Brittany continued to walk through the meeting materials, focusing at this stage on the InnerSource Commons Partnership and Future State for the group. Key is building a strong community.
  • Brittany further walked through the mechanisms and avenues to getting involved with the SIG
  • Brittany talked about an existing backlog of content that will be shared with the participants through Google Drive. This backlog will form the back of the substance that will be discussed at the meetings, and will be shared by the end of the week.
  • Robert pointed out that some parties cannot engage through Slack and Google Drive
  • Brittany indicated that additional mechanisms would be considered so as to keep the barrier for entry low
  • The call closed at 15.36 having covered all the agenda items.
