Plans for Classic?

This really goes for all of the addons that date back to Vanilla and/or would be relevant/useful, but what would it take to get them ready for Classic (or back to Vanilla state?).

In partial answer to my own question, it seems Classic will be using the current API and is, as I understand it, going to maintain parity. That makes interfacing with the game easier, but does still leave the question of how the split should be handled.

I was thinking perhaps some refactoring is in order to a) make it more modular and b) more cleanly namespace things (ie - FactionFriend:someFunction vs FFF_Some_Function). The modularity is most relevant here, as it could be set up to have a shared core, then each gets features "plugged in" as needed. That way, the Classic version doesn't have a bunch of extra data, functions, etc that it doesn't need, while Retail gets all of the full features, while sharing as much of the overlapping code as possible.

I dearly miss Hunter's Helper and feed-o-matic in classic, as well as faction friend. I hope some work can be done porting HH forward!

Alright, so I'm working on getting FactionFriend ported over and I've gotten it at least to a "beta" state (read: it doesn't seem to throw errors anymore and should at least be usable). You can find the downloadable/tagged version at https://github.com/Dreamwalker-Collective/faction-friend/tree/v0.1-beta . Once I do some more testing and cleanup, I'll see about releasing it to the addons channels. Feel free to install it and write tickets as you find things.

@Enigma-TL The long-term plan is for both, but right now I'm focusing on getting it working in Classic (since that's what I'm actively playing). There have been a number of changes, between 8.2 and Classic, that broke it pretty hard, so the changes I've needed to make so far have been pretty hefty, but hopefully the changes I'm making for Classic will help fix Retail.
