Follow the following steps to set up Flamingo4 using MS SQL server (only works for 4.2)

SQL Server

1. Create a user (for example: flamingo)

2. Create a database owned by this user (for example, also named flamingo)

3. Run the following scripts (with the created user):

http://svn.flamingo-mc.org/trac/attachment/wiki/UseMSSQL/01_flamingo_mssql_create_objects.zip

http://svn.flamingo-mc.org/trac/attachment/wiki/UseMSSQL/02_flamingo_mssql_data.zip

http://svn.flamingo-mc.org/trac/attachment/wiki/UseMSSQL/03_flamingo_mssql_create_constraints.zip

Tomcat

4. Make sure you copy the sqljdbc4.jar to the <!TomcatDir>/lib dir

5. Setup the JNDI data source in the `GlobalNamingResources` in Tomcat server.xml as follows

<Resource name="jdbc/geo_viewer"
    auth="Container"
    type="javax.sql.DataSource"
    username="<<USERNAME>>"
    password="<<PASSWORD>>"
    driverClassName="com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver"
    url="jdbc:sqlserver://<<HOST>>;database=<<DATABASE_NAME>>;integratedSecurity=false;"
    maxActive="40"
    validationQuery="select 1"
    timeBetweenEvictionRunsMillis="30000"
    minEvictableIdleTimeMillis="5000" />

Make sure to add the `<Resource>` element as child of the already existing `<GlobalNamingResources>` element.

6. Because the persistence classes are not yet ready for MS-SQL server copy the file (and replace): [attachment:viewer-config-persistence.zip] in the dirs:

<!TomcatDir>/webapps/viewer/WEB-INF/lib BR <!TomcatDir>/webapps/viewer-admin/WEB-INF/lib BR

7. Restart tomcat
