Blank page shows up

Hi. I understand that it's been a while since this repo is updated. I tried to run the example provided. After solving some dependency issues (it's my first time using npm and react) I got the example running without error or warnings. But the page just turned out to be completely blank. Can anyone give a clue on how to possibly fix it? Or pointer to where could go wrong? Thanks.
