Hey all, I went to an RLadies talk in DC last Saturday and there seemed to be a good amount of interest and I'm also going to bring up RainbowR at the Women Data Scientist DC meet up at the end of the month. I'm not sure if anyone is in NYC, but apparently StartOut is hosting a Developing Pride event next week. If anyone can attend that and scope out interest, then that would be awesome. |
Is there a sign up link or contact email? |
The link to the slack channel was given on the @R_LGBTQ+ Twitter account: https://twitter.com/R_LGBTQ/status/1019396405838925824 |
Forwards Twitter account currently has ~3000 followers, so 750 seems to be a reasonable target for R_LGBTQ Twitter. Will keep this issue open till then - obviously our support will continue but we'll consider the task of helping the group establish itself done. |
I updated the website of R_LGBTQ and asked the original creators if they wanted help but never heard back. I made the update 4 months ago and tweeted it out 2 times but had no attention. |
Rainbow R was initiated last year at UseR! in Brussels as a network for LGBT+ in the R community.
I propose that Forwards help promote the group, help it gain a critical mass.
We can do this with regular plugs on twitter and facebook.
(As an aside, please keep in mind the issue of involuntary disclosure.)
