Tips you can improve your Haskell program

note: Tips marked (Advanced) means they are way out of the scope of the week they are in. You are encouraged to understand them (since they are probably how Haskell is done in a production environment), but don't stress if you can not. You can always come back to them.

Week 1

• In haskell, if we don't name the variable in pattern matching, we tend to use (x : xs) as a convention.

• Indentation

• -1 and (-1)

• do we mix test with code?

• align symbols

• align exports

• function application $, function composition . and brackets

• (.) and $

Week 2

• Maybe folding with pattern match is a better choice here to avoid partial function

• do notation vs applicative style (Advanced)

• pure instead of return (Advanced)

• x >>= pure is the same as x (Advanced)

• partial functions

• align if else then

• align list in multiple lines

• view patterns (Advanced)

Week 5

• When to use applicative and when to use fmap with chain (bind in Haskell)?
