spdlog::shutdown for async logger for windows and linux

Based on information I am not sure if spdlog::shutdown should be manually called or not for asynchronous version. We are using version 1.9.2.1. We use static linker. And we build it for windows (Visual Studio 2017) and linux.

If you call spdlog::shutdown() and have no problems, you should call it.

I am asking because of architecture of our solution we have problem with it. It is called after static object is cleaned up. So shutdown is creating problem. So the easiest solution for me is removing it at all. But I am not sure if there can be another problem if we not call it. Base on documentation and example code it is just not clear for me. Looks that for linux it is not needed at all.

Yes, Linux does not seem to cause any problems.

However, on Windows, it is possible to crash after the main() function exits because the thread used inside spdlog has not been terminated.
And logs are not automatically flushed from the OS buffer either, so some logs may be lost.
