09. 3D Printer Tips & Troubleshooting
For best results, set the layer thickness to the smallest resolution (25 um). This requires more time and is not necessary for larger scale prints.
Use the auto-generated layout and supports, but make sure that internal supports are turned off and edit any supports that connect in a hole or internal face. We have found that the optimal angle is to set the front face aimed upward at 45°.
Ensure that the tray is clear of any debris from a past failed print (unlikely, but possible) and that the build platform is completely cleaned from the last print.
Remove the print from the build platform and place into the basket. Run the prints through a 30 minute wash cycle then blow the excess alcohol off. The prints do not need to be completely dry, but removing any dripping alcohol keeps the cure station more consistent.
Set the temperature to 60°C and run the prints through a 30 minute cure session.
Tip to Save Time: turn on the cure station and run it through a ~45 minute session while the prints are in the wash so you can start the curing cycle immediately after washing and not have to wait for the machine to heat up to temperature.
Sometimes larger prints come out of the cure station still feeling a bit tacky from excess resin. A good trick to removing this is to get a tube of the same alcohol used in the washing process and shake the part around in it for 20-30 seconds then blow dry again and let set until completely dry.
