Hello,
current implementation of Gazebo lacks the support of SDF format <road> tag. (However, it was available in the Gazebo-Classic; https://github.com/gazebosim/gazebo-classic/blob/6a9d39ccc35d23ffd03568b3f4e056c73bac20f1/gazebo/physics/World.cc#L1407)

Are there any plans for supporting this tag?

This is currently not in our roadmap, but could be added in the future if there is enough demand. We would also be happy to accept PRs.
