Debug symbols in binary

Hey all,

When we ship our production binaries, I would love to remove debug symbols from them. This is using the flags "-s -w".

Will doing this impact the ability to read Sentry reports when something goes wrong?

Removing these flags trims like 20% off of our binaries, which I would love to do, but I'm concerned it will impact debugging when we have a panic for instance, or tracing errors.

Hey @harrisoncramer,

The way we extract the stacktrace we are using both the full function names and the filepaths to create new frames and correctly identify if the given frame is inApp or not. It might be possible to only use -w and see how it affects inApp behavior, but since it strips debug info, I would expect it to not work 100% correctly. For more info you can also have a look at a similar issue we had with -trimpath and the limitations around getting the stacktraces.
