Question: Can I use an existing tar.gz?

Hello,

Rather than "downloading" a wordnet e.g. oewn:2024, can I provide the tar.gz directly and have it unpacked to the .wn-data dir and prepare/update the .wn-data/wn.db

The goal is to be able to use wn within an airgapped system or hermetic build

I've used python -c "import wn; wn.add('english-wordnet-2023.xml.gz')" to load a copy from https://en-word.net/static/english-wordnet-2023.xml.gz matching the options in https://github.com/goodmami/wn/blob/main/wn/index.toml#L20 for oewn:2023

I had some issues because the other code I was using was (sometimes) overriding values in wn.config but managed to fix it.

This is a little oneliner I was using to check it was loaded which others may benefit from
python -c "import wn; [print(f'{lex.id}:{lex.version}\t{lex.label}\t{lex.language}') for lex in wn.lexicons()]"
But remember this will only be looking at the default locations, if the code you're using changes the config you'll need to inspect there instead.
