turn a wheel while loading?

start the graphics engine and turn a wheel while loading game assets, maybe with a progress bar?

it takes 2-3 seconds on my machine to enter the splash screen.

problem is, loading game assets should be done while starting the game, not before entering the main splash screen. the game background can be changed after e.g. 10 levels, maybe together with other assets..
