It would be very handy to have the ability to close apps directly, like in Windows Alt-Tab, with the "X" button. It's frustrating to have to open each app individually to close it. If we could have an "X" button or use middle-click to close apps, just like closing tabs in a browser. It would be incredible.

Good thinking. I’m not near a mac at the moment; but I wonder if command-q does this from the switcher? That would fit with command-q when an app is fore-most.
