Alternative interpolation support #241
Description
Recently, SciML has a newly developed multi-dimensional interpolation package DataInterpolationsND.jl that has not been registered yet. We may consider that as a potential substitute for Interpolations.jl. Based on my experience in using its 1D version DataInterpolations.jl, it has lower allocations and better support for auto-differentiation.
Now in July 2025, this package v0.1.0 has been registered. However, it lacks the support for extrapolation and boundary condition handling. We can wait a bit more for the more complete features. Note that the out-of-domain control should be properly handled by the outofdomain function in the ODE solver. However, we need the boundary conditions, such as periodic and flat, for the complete support.
