Hexagonix Operating System
The Hexagonix Operating System is made up of a series of components that together make your
computer work. These components are divided into low-level and high-level components. The low-level
components are the Hexagon Boot (HBoot) boot loader and its modules and the kernel Hexagon,
responsible for initializing, controlling and making available to the user all devices connected to
the computer. Hexagon manages the processor and memory, as well provides a foundation on which
applications and utilities will run. The Hexagon also receives and processes requests from
utilities and applications, such as opening files or devices, input and output requests, disk and
memory operations, as well as on other devices. High-level components start with loading of the
first process in the user environment, usually the image contained in 'init'. Init reads startup
settings available in an rc data file and start processes there described. Initialization usually
ends with loading the 'login' utility, which asks for a username and password and compares it
against the database in your configuration(1). The next step, after logging in as a user, is
loading a shell. The appropriate shell for each user is available in the 'login' utility database.
The default shell is 'sh', but it can also be 'ash', 'hash' or any other configured by the user.
