Tooltips not opening on click on Mobile

Is this behaviour intentional?

Tooltips work perfectly fine on Desktop on hover, but doesn't open on click on Mobile. I tried fixing this using exposed pointerdown, pointerleave events, but I feel this should be in-built.

I think this behaviour is intentional, but I am not sure why though! 😅
Even in W3C patterns: w3c/aria-practices#127 (comment) there is no mention of clicks to open tooltip.

Does this mean Popovers should be used as a replacement for tooltips in such scenarios?

You're absolutely right; tooltips don't work on mobile because of a lack of relevant/required events.

You should opt to use popovers for such cases.
