hello I was having the same issue and did some fiddling around, I know its a bit late but you need to add the
" maven { url 'https://jitpack.io' } "
into the settings.gradle repository, such that it looks like so.

repositories {
google()
mavenCentral()
maven { url 'https://jitpack.io' }
jcenter() // Warning: this repository is going to shut down soon
}
