Consider using (blog) posts to provide a news stream for the site

We could use the Jekyll blog post features to construct a news feed for the site. We wouldn't have to make a big deal of it on the site itself, just but we could use it to highlight changes folks might want to know about (such as adding a new activity), and make an RSS feed out of it too.

Questions:

• What, exactly, would we want to highlight in a news feed, apart from new activities?
• Should we combine the news feed with the event feed or keep them separate?
