Description
So far, the Computer chess player, besides killing opposing pieces, attempts to control the centre of the board.
This is a valid strategy for the early and mid-game; not so much for the late-game.
Here is a checkmate: Notice that neither of the check-mating pieces are occupying the strategic centre of the board.

Hence a proposal for shifting such focus. The "AI" keeps track of the original piece score. As the current piece score/original piece score ratio lowers, lower the "strategic terrain bonus" for the center of the board, and raise the "strategic terrain bonus" for tiles next to the enemy king.
