For those of you who use IQ-TREE2 but have wanted the ability to access its capabilities from within Python, we have some good news 🗞️!
The developers of IQ-TREE2 and cogent3 announce the release of piqtree.
piqtree exposes selected IQ-TREE2 capabilities within Python, using the cogent3 library as the interface. A major distinguishing feature of piqtree is you can now perform exploratory analyses in interactive Jupyter notebooks by leveraging cogent3 features that enrich the user experience. piqtree also supports trivial parallelisation across collections of alignments and, via the cogent3 app ecosystem, can readily integrate with other Python tools such as ETE3.
