Exploring!

Hi apologies for the late reply! I was in for surgery so was out for a few weeks. I did some more exploring and have a few questions for you specifically:

  1. Are you affiliated with HeyLogin at all? If you are that's fine, it just means I'll look for user feedback. If you aren't, how have you found HeyLogin compared to a traditional password manager like Apple's iCloud Passwords (built-in/Chrome extension), or something like Bitwarden/Lastpass?
  2. How have you found the reliance on one device? Personally I always build redundancy into my systems, so I have a Yubikey for lots of my 2FA, but I have backup authenticators in my password manager (with additional authentication). What happens if my current device is lost or stolen? I had some issues setting it up across both my iPad and iPhone.
  3. How have you found network connection reliance? I tried having my phone on airplane mode and I didn't have any issues retrieving passwords, but can't log into my account. Though it's minor, this does require both your devices being connected to the internet, whereas with a traditional authenticator TOTP, it's just generated from there.

General notes (if you wanted to add)

  • Good browser support
  • Actual iOS browser extension! (cough Bitwarden)
  • Requires setup on iPhone/Android device first, and reliance on this device
  • Browser based password manager interface (no standalone app)
  • Supports password import
  • Supports TOTP
  • Supports Login/Credit Card/Secure Notes with Display name and custom fields
  • Shows edit history!
  • Automatically saves logins (not in incognito) - no confirmation like Bitwarden, which is preferred imo
  • Supports generation of password inline
