Sunmi V2S error

I'm trying to use this library to print on a Sunmi V2S and am receiving the error:
Attempt to invoke interface method 'void woyou.aidlservice.jiuiv5.IWoyouService.printOriginalText' on a null object reference.
when I call:
await SunmiV2Printer.printOriginalText('==\n’);

Has anyone experienced the same issue and can can point me on how to resolve it?
