Getting error function of complex argument to accept complex arguments

The docstring for jax.scipy.special.erf says that erf is the error function of complex argument:

Signature: jax.scipy.special.erf(x)
Docstring:
Returns the error function of complex argument.

However, erf does not seem to accept complex arguments. Asking for jax.scipy.special.erf(1j) leads to

TypeError: erf does not accept dtype complex64. Accepted dtypes are subtypes of floating.

Is there a way to call erf (or something else in that function family) within jax so that it does accept complex arguments?
