Automation without opening Lightfield

Hi,

I would like first to thank you for your VIs that are a great help in order to automatize some measurements.

I wanted to know: is it possible to make an automation measurement with Lightfield without opening Lightfield.
I mean that I would like to make measurements with Princeton Instrument devices but only by using a Labview interface, and when I use the VI "LFA_initialize", it opens Lightfield.

I am also currently using "AcquireWithAutosave" VI and I wanted to know if it could be possible to do a "Save As" function instead in order to be able to change the name of the files and the saving folder without having to go in Lightfield everytime.

I would really appreciate your help.

You can set the "Visible?" flag on the init block to false to hide LightField, but it will still be running in the background. If you want something that doesn't interface with LightField at all and works directly with the native drivers, look at the SITK from R-Cubed.

The file saving is handled by LightField and not the LabVIEW portion. You can access the filename that it will be saved as through the API like from the examples:

experiment.SetValue(ExperimentSettings.ExampleFileBaseFileName,“Specific”);

will save as "Specific.SPE". I am guessing there is a setting for the directory and other bits like file incrementing. You would have to do this before acquiring though.

I guess an option is to take the filename which is found during the acquire vi's and simply move the file elsewhere using LabVIEW's file manipulation . . . but I don't think that is a great solution.

I already found a little trick for this, using the "capture" subVI of Lightfield and saving then the file to a specific location with LabVIEW.

Anyway, I could still try the solution you mention.
